Festival end solace

IN its 50-year history Huntington Estate has produced sterling quality wines and for 30 years it's been the Mudgee home of a superb chamber music event. The estate's 1969 founders Bob and Wendy Roberts set up the Huntington Music Festival in 1989 and it has been continued since 2006 by Huntington's current owners Tim and Nicky Stevens. Sadly, however, the 2019 festival in November will be the last - but the 500-strong crowds who loved the festival's fine music, wine, food and bucolic location can gain consolation from wines like this green-tinted straw, crushed almond-scented chardonnay. The front palate has smooth white peach flavour, the middle palate pear, lemon curd, mineral and cashew oak and the finish slatey acid. Good with quiche.
