Lakeside bliss Shore thing

Wangi Shores is a retirement village with a difference offering the perfect location for people looking to relax and enjoy their retirement but also be close to everything.
Established in 2008 by the Wangi Workers Club, Wangi Shores aims to create a welcoming community and an alternative to traditional retirement living.
For new residents Barbara and Alan, moving to Wangi Shores is the best decision they've ever made.
The couple had been living in a large house in Morisset Park at Trinity Point, but when Alan was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease several years ago, the decision to downsize got serious.
"I'd had my eye on Wangi Shores for a while," Barbara explained. "My daughter lives in Wangi and I'd seen the village right on the lake with the big 'over 55s' sign and it really appealed."
Barbara and Alan looked around at what was available to see if there were any better options available, but in the end Wangi Shores topped the list.
"We honestly couldn't find anything so beautifully situated," Barbara said. "Wangi is lovely. The Village is lovely. Everyone is so warm and welcoming and we felt a part of it immediately."
The move to downsize was a major life decision coinciding with Alan's diagnosis, but in retrospect, Barbara now wishes she's moved earlier.
"It was an educated decision in terms of thinking," she said. "It's a different environment, but honestly I don't know where else would be better.
"The villas are generous - two bedrooms and a study which can be used as a spare bedroom if you want.
"The view is amazing. We can sit on our balcony and take in the beautiful north-easterly aspect with the morning sun. Right out front is a path that hugs the water's edge into Wangi taking you to the shops and clubs. Everything is a short walking distant. It's perfect that way."
Village life has been easy to settle into, with residents free to interact as much or as little as they desire.
"You can join the social groups who visits to the clubs, have gatherings like happy hour etc," Barbara said.
"If it's not by word of mouth you are kept informed of what's happening by the monthly newsletter. Everything is flexible and well considered.
"The Village has a mini bus to take you shopping on designated days, there is an informal exercise program twice a week at the community centre if you'd like to join in. Family, friends and your grand children are always welcome in the village. There's a Men's Shed (Women Welcome) and community garden, where Alan likes to call in to watch or chat occasionally. My daughter, son-in-law and three grandsons live nearby. We never feel lonely, and we're very happy with our decision."
Stage 3A is now complete with only 4 villas remaining, while Expressions of Interest are now being taken on Stages 3B and 5 - providing the opportunity to live in a newly built villa with lake views.
Located on a waterfront reserve, with stylish architecture and modern facilities, the villas' open plan living rooms lead out to balconies with double-glass doors that invite the outside in.
Living at Wangi Shores offers the extra bonus of having not only the support and company of your fellow villagers but also emergency attention if you need it.
All villas include an emergency call system that is monitored 24 hours a day.
For further peace of mind Wangi Shores will soon be a completely gated facility.
