There were low-rider Chevys parked out front, neon lights, beautiful people, bartenders putting on a show and music pumping. Brick walls covered with graffiti portraits of the likes of Rihanna, Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg added to the edgy warehouse feel.
The invitation-only event gave owner David Sampaklis and his team the opportunity to put their training into practice and show off the urban beauty of Newcastle's newest burger restaurant and bar.
"It was a hectic night with 120 people to look after but I take my hat off to the staff. They handled it so well. It was a lot of fun," Mr Sampaklis said.
The venue is family friendly and "caters for everyone" except, perhaps, after 8pm on a Friday or Saturday night when the DJ turns the volume up a notch.
Milky Lane Newcastle's grand opening will be next Wednesday, July 24, from noon. You can find it at 13-15 Darby Street, Newcastle.
