The major thoroughfare will run as a single alternate-flow lane on Monday night to allow for safety improvements where the light rail cuts across the street.
Work will run from 8pm to 5am on Monday and Tuesday weather permitting, NSW Transport announced on Monday.
Crews will install overhead mast arms and extra signage above the existing traffic lights.
Changed conditions include a single lane with alternating flow during the work hours.
Traffic control will be in place, with a speed limit reduction in force.
Drivers are urged to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of traffic controllers and signage.
"Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time," the body said in a statement.
