Police renewed their appeal to the public this week for information about the fate of Steven 'Feno' Fenwick, as the six month anniversary of his disappearance approaches.
The Newcastle Herald reported in April that Strike Force Kummari detectives - the action group set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the 33-year-old's disappearance - were treating the incident as a possible murder investigation.
Police will set up the command post at the carpark on Mitchell Street from 8am today, displaying large images of the missing man in the hope they will jog someone's memory and have a breakthrough in the case.
Mr Fenwick was last seen walking with a woman near the intersection of Fullerton and Meredith streets at Stockton at about 2.30am on January 31.

Police have conducted extensive searches and investigations, but Mr Fenwick remains missing.
His mobile phone and clothes were found in the dunes at the southern end of Stockton beach soon after he vanished. Police are investigating whether Mr Fenwick was killed before someone attempted to make it look as if he had drowned.
"Any information provided to police can become a missing piece of the puzzle, and help find Mr Fenwick," Detective Chief Inspector Scott Parker said on Monday.
Police are urging anyone with information about Mr Fenwick's disappearance to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
