On Saturday at Brookvale Oval, Knights prop David Klemmer will clash with Manly's Addin Fonua-Blake, intent on settling a score from earlier in the season.

There was no love lost at McDonald Jones Stadium in round five when Fonua-Blake was sin-binned for a high tackle that left Knights skipper Mitchell Pearce dazed.

As he sauntered from the field, Fonua-Blake exchanged words with Klemmer, then taunted the spectators booing him.

Klemmer said afterwards the Tongan Test prop "should have been sent off," an opinion reinforced when he was suspended for two games.

Klemmer added for good measure: "If that's how he wants to portray himself, if he thinks that's fine to do on the rugby league field, and that's the persona he wants to have, so be it."

Fonua-Blake could nonetheless claim bragging rights, after scoring a try in Manly's 26-18 victory. As his front-row partner, Marty Taupau, said this week: "Addin was over the moon. He knew he won that battle, but the war is still on and we'll re-live that moment this weekend."

Knights coach Nathan Brown had no doubt Klemmer and his NSW Origin sidekick Daniel Saifiti would take personally the challenge their formidable Manly opponents will present.

"I think blokes like Addin and Klem, they always take it personally when they're playing against those blokes who are that higher echelon of front-rowers," he said.

"Addin has certainly developed a reputation as one of the better front-rowers in the game.

"And obviously Klem himself is an Origin and Test front-rower, so I'm sure both parties are looking for a great contest.

"And I'd be disappointed if Daniel Saifiti and Martin Taupau aren't looking to challenge each other.

"This is what front-rowers do.

"At the end of the day, a lot of the smaller numbers get the accolades when games are won, but the bigger numbers are the ones that lay the platform, and hopefully our middles can do a good job and give Pearcey and Kalyn [Ponga] and opportunity to attack."

Brown said Manly's big men "generally start the game fast", as they did in their round-five win against Newcastle, when the Sea Eagles raced to an 18-0 lead after only 19 minutes.

"I think we'd all agree, last time they came here, Addin and Martin Taupau and Jake Trbojevic started that game very, very well," he said.

"If we are to play our best this week, we're going to need to be doing a good job on their three middles at the start of the game."
