Knights coach Nathan Brown said the controversy surrounding last week's departure of centre Jesse Ramien had no bearing on his side's dismal second half cave-in to the Sea Eagles.

Only days after he was dropped for the Manly game by Brown, Ramien's deal with the club was abruptly cut short by mutual agreement with the young centre now free to link with a rival club next season.
Brown said players coming and going and not seeing out contracts for whatever reason was now a common occurrence in the NRL.
"Whether it be a coach's call, a player's call or an agent's call, whatever it is, there are lots of reasons why players move and change clubs," Brown said. "When you are going well and your culture is strong, players just get on with it. You don't see the better clubs use player movement, whatever time of the year it might be, as a reason not to play better footy. It certainly had no bearing on the result today."
Backrower Mitch Barnett admitted the news of Ramien's departure came as a shock to the playing group but from personal experience, he backed the coach's decision.
"The Jesse thing was probably a bit of a shock to us boys but it didn't affect anyone,"he said.
"At the end of the day, Browny made the right decision. If someone doesn't want to be here, there is no point keeping them around.
"I've been in that similar situation in Canberra so I know what it's like. At the end of the day, Jesse's a great fella and all the boys get along with him really well. We wish him all the best."

Barnett said there were signs all was not right with Ramien. "It showed in his performances that he was struggled with everything but there was no rift with anyone,"he said.
"This is a tight group and he got along with everyone really well but like I said, he was obviously struggling here. He's going to do really well at another club and that's the sad part but we have moved on already."
Ramien's centre replacement against Manly, Hymel Hunt, did not have a happy game while winger Kurt Mann was in a knee brace after the game and in doubt for next week's clash against Parramatta.
