The Gold Coast star kicks off her national regional tour at Wests NEX on Thursday, October 3, her first headline show in Newcastle. Shark's only other performance in the Hunter was at last year's This That music festival at Wickham Park.
"I've done that many radio interviews and everything for all the regional towns, so I think it's fair and I think it'll be fun to see a bit of Australia and go and give these kids what they want," Shark told the Newcastle Herald.
"I get hit up every day online about when I'm coming to everyone's little town, so I think it'll be really fun."
In the past 18 months Shark's star has exploded. She has undoubtedly become the hottest name in Australian pop music.
Shark was the queen of the 2018 ARIA Music Awards, winning best album, pop release and female artist for her debut record Love Monster.
Her singles Adore, I Said Hi and All Loved Up have become radio staples, attracted more than 100 million streams and landed her appearances on USA television programs The Late Late Show with James Corden and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
American superstar musician and producer Mark Ronson - best known for working with Amy Winehouse and Bruno Mars - has also invited Shark to collaborate on a future project.
The 33-year-old's meteoric rise is even more remarkable given she spent a decade playing pub gigs on the Gold Coast while being ignored by record labels.
Then three years ago she released Adore which was launched into high rotation by Triple J, sparking a bidding war between record labels, despite the industry usually being obsessed with artists in their early 20s.
"I think the whole idea of trying to find the youngest artist is a little riskier because they have no life experience and you're gonna have to pay a fortune to have songs written for them," Shark said. "Obviously there's good young songwriters coming through as well. I just think record labels have realised that good songs come in all shapes and sizes and different walks of life."
Pre-sale tickets are on sale Thursday at 11am.
