At 5.55pm on Monday Newcastle officers located a 36-year-old man on Fowler Street pushing a Specialized brand mountain bike. Checks on the male identified he had two arrest warrants in existence for failing to appear at court.
Police arrested and searched the man. An iPhone, suspected to be stolen, was seized. Police also located two fuel cards that were reported stolen from a vehicle in Burwood Street Merewether.
The man was taken to Newcastle police station and charged with two warrant offences and two counts of goods in personal custody reasonably suspected of being stolen. He was refused bail by police to appear at Newcastle Court on Tuesday.
The Specialiszed mountain bike was seized and inquiries are underway with regards to its ownership.
