Winnie's Diner on Darby Street is hosting an official menu launch next Tuesday, August 13, at 6pm. Chefs Colin Greengrass and Jared Phillips have been run off their feet since taking over the former Winnie's Jamaican at Finnegan's - not that they're complaining. "Everything is going well - we are working very hard and we've had a great first month," Phillips says. "We've been consistently busy pretty much every night since we opened. We've been changing the menu almost weekly up until this point to try and get a better understanding of what people are after, what works, what doesn't, and cooking with the availability of produce."
LAST DRINKSFood Bites may have jumped the gun last week - Reserve's last day is actually today. Whoops. Take a seat at the bar and celebrate with Patrick Haddock and the team. There's still some top drops that need to be polished off.
MIXING IT UP The Exchange at Hamilton is hosting the Grey Goose Espresso Martini Festival tonight from 6pm. Award-winning mixologist Brent Tozer will create six espresso martini combinations using Grey Goose vodka and Jac's Cold Drip Coffee. Entry is free.
BBQ FOR BOOBS Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation and PeopleFusion are launching a new initiative, BBQ for Boobs. Businesses are being encouraged to put on a Friday barbecue and ask staff to donate what they'd usually spend on lunch to the foundation to help men and women diagnosed with, or being treated for, breast cancer, and their families. Great idea.
