NEWCASTLE punk band The Gooch Palms have cancelled the remainder of their national tour after frontman Leroy Macqueen tore his larynx.

The two-piece performed at the Cambridge Hotel on Saturday night where Macqueen was visibly ill with what he and drummer Kat Friend believed was tonsillitis.
Despite the illness Macqueen completed the show, and performed his usual Gooch Palms stage antics.
In a statement posted on social media on Tuesday The Gooch Palms said the final six shows of the tour to support their album III had been cancelled with full refunds provided for ticket-holders.
"As some of you that were at our Newcastle show on Saturday might already know, Leroy is really sick with what we thought was tonsillitis but has turned out to be a serious virus that has resulted in him tearing his larynx, which has caused severe swelling, bleeding and pain," the statement read.
"His doctor has said if he continues to sing on the upcoming dates he will do permanent damage to his vocal cords.
"This means we won't be able to complete the upcoming dates on the tour. We are obviously devastated and apologise to all of you that have already bought tickets."
The Gooch Palms were scheduled to play Brisbane's Black Bear on Thursday, followed by shows on the Gold Coast and Byron Bay on Friday and Saturday.
The tour was due to finish on August 25 after run of dates in Adelaide, Fremantle and Perth.
The Gooch Palms hope to return for the Yours & Owls Festival in Wollongong on October 5-6 before joining Grinspoon for their national Chemical Hearts tour, which begins in Fremantle on October 11.
