We design the sessions to not only offer students access to our insight and knowledge about the HSC, but also to equip them with essential exam techniques to maximise their marks.
No one knows how to get marks in an exam better than those who will mark it. Fortunately for the 2019 Year 12 cohort, exam markers are sharing their knowledge before the HSC starts.
InspirED (formerly known as HSC In The Holidays) is a collective of over 80 senior teachers and HSC exam markers. Partnered with the University of Newcastle, they're running workshops at UON's Callaghan campus from October 8-11 to help students prepare for their HSC exams.
For each workshop, students simply enrol for the subjects they want help in. On the day, students share a classroom of about 20-30 students with one of InspirED's experts in that subject. The sessions include extensive syllabus revision, opportunity to practice exam-style questions with immediate feedback, insight into the HSC marking process, and the chance to ask questions to an exam marker.
Students will also be provided with a comprehensive subject booklet on the day.
This will be the fourth year that InspirED has partnered their events with UON. Program director, Shane Hardcastle, said that the workshops have grown to be a huge success,
"Year in and out we see that these sessions are the most effective way for students to prepare for final exams," he said. "We design the sessions to not only offer students access to our insight and knowledge about the HSC, but also to equip them with essential exam techniques to maximise their marks."
Past state-ranked HSC student, Clayton McKinnon, describes the sessions as hugely beneficial.
"The presenters provide unmatched insight into the examination process," he said. "The advice that the InspirED team provides is second to none. I wouldn't be where I am today without them."
