Art Systems Wickham
Out of the Shadows by Felicity Howard, Varelle Hardy, Vanessa Turton, Anne Rees and Margaret McBride is currently exhibiting at Art Systems Wickham until August 25. This exhibition brings together a diverse range of art practices including sculpture, collage, painting and mixed media. Concepts of identity and existence form the basis for these five female artists.
A new exhibition opens on Saturday (August 17, 1pm to 3pm) at Blackstone Gallery on Hunter Street. It's by Glenn Cooper and it's called SURFACE TENSIONS. All works have been collaged together from found and discarded materials including old material library books and corrugated cardboard.
The overall square format brings back uniformity to the pieces.
Across the road from Blackstone Gallery, another exhibition is opening on Saturday (3pm to 7pm) at Artdork Studios run by Mitch Revs. Revs' mentor, Marc Adam, is showing a suite of paintings inspired by the sea.
In the Shadow Garden by emerging artist Rosie Turner opened on Friday, August 16, at Onwards Studio and continues on Saturday, August 17,only.
It's a mixture of ink drawings, paintings and ceramics that explore Australia's flora and fauna from inside an imagined garden where you'll find an "Alchemy Echidna", a "Glowing Magnolia" and even "The lament of a Lyrebird".
Onwards Studio is located at 6 Torpey Place, Hamilton.
