A DAN Murphy's bottle shop could replace the former Harris Farm Market premises at Glendale under plans set to be considered by Lake Macquarie City Council.

A development application for the retail premises and demolition of existing structures was lodged with the council earlier this week.
The DA, submitted by The Trust Company Pty Ltd, proposes construction of a new purpose-built shop for use as a Dan Murphy's outlet.
The new building would have a gross floor area of 1245 square metres - an increase of 369 square metres from the existing premises - and result in the loss of 17 car parking spaces.
About 35 staff members would be employed at the outlet, including a mix of full-time, part-time and casual staff. A minimum of six employees would be rostered to work at any one time.
The proposed hours of operation are 9am to 9pm, seven days a week.
There are 17 bottle shops within eight kilometres of the site, according to a social impact assessment provided with the application.
A community profile summary in the assessment says there is a higher proportion of underage drinkers in the local area compared to the statewide rate.
The assessment also summaries health statistics that indicate the Lake Macquarie local government area has a lower rate of alcohol related hospitalisations but a higher rate of alcohol related deaths compared to NSW.
The assessment says the new Dan Murphy's store would result in "additional competition for the First Choice Liquor" outlet at Stockland Glendale, but it would be "unlikely" that it would "result in cheaper prices for alcohol compared to prices offered at First Choice Liquor".
An existing BWS bottle shop would close if the Dan Murphy's was approved, with the liquor licence to be transferred.
The DA is yet to go on public exhibition.
