With one round in the regular season remaining, who gets to etch their name on the prestigious piece of silverware is the only thing to be determined.
On Saturday, the Hawks thrashed University 65-12 to move to 69 points and stay out of reach of second-placed Wanderers (62 points).
Maitland (59 points) overpowered Lake Macquarie 43-10 at Walters Park to secure third place, despite having a bye in the final round.
The Blacks will meet Wanderers in the qualifying semi-final in a fortnight.
Merewether, who had the bye, will tackle Lake Macquarie in the elimination semi.
Hamilton began the season with the Hawthorne Cup, which is up for grabs each round, and handed it to Wanderers after a 24-12 loss in round four.
The Two Blues relinquished control to Maitland in round 10 before taking it from Merewether in round 13.
"We will be up to have a crack at the Hawthorne Cup for sure," Coleman said.
"We have another hard game next week, then get a chance to freshen up."
Incredibly, Hamilton will finish at the top of the ladder in all three senior grades.
"It's the first time in the history of the club that all three grades have been minor premiers," Coleman said. "We wrapped up the club championships last week, but didn't say too much because we targeted the minor premierships. It shows the culture and spirit in the club. Guys are happy to play where they are picked and want to win for the club."
The win over University came at a cost. Connor Mulhearn, given a chance to start at fly-half, dislocated his knee cap in the third minute.
He played on but now faces two weeks in a brace and a race to be fit for the finals.
Maitland travelled to Walters Park on a mission.
"We went down there to get the five points and we walked away with five points," coach Matt Thomas said.
The Blacks crossed for three tries to lead 21-3 at half-time.
Lake Macquarie prop Tim Poese crashed over to reduce the margin to 21-0 after 46 minutes. The visitors lifted a gear. Travis Brooke, who was again outstanding, powered over for the fourth try and a bonus point in the 52nd minute.
Lake Macquarie lost Poese to injury, forcing uncontested scrums for the final 10 minutes.
In a positive for the Roos, Brendan Holliday returned from a shoulder injury with 15 minutes off the bench.
Teenage sensation Liam Dalibozek crossed for five tries to help steer Wanderers to a 87-5 rout of a hapless Southern Beaches at No.2 Sportsground.
However, captain Ben Ham picked up his third yellow card for the season and is suspended for the showdown with the Hawks.
Halfback Charles Fielder darted over late to snatch Nelson Bay a 22-15 win over Singleton at Rugby Park.
