Three Hunter boys helped NSW to a fifth-place finish at the School Sport Australia 12 Years and Under Championships earlier this month, while another three Hunter boys performed strongly as NSW claimed fourth place in 15 Years and Under Championships a week earlier.
Ace Antonovich, of Hamilton Public School; Max King, from Valentine Public School; and Zachary Yurisich, of St Mary's Warners Bay made the trip to Mandurah, Western Australia for the 12 Years tournament.
The side had three wins and four losses and finished fifth in the eight-team competition. The trio made history in being the most amount of Hunter-based players ever selected in the state primary-age Aussie rules side.
At the 15 Years tournament held in Tasmania, NSW had two wins and two losses in the pool matches before Western Australia 11.6.72 trumped the side 5.4.34 in the bronze medal match.
Singleton High School's Alex Stafa, Whitebridge High School's of Nathan Battaglia and Warners Bay High School's Billy King were all part of the side.
Bodyboard titles
ANNA Bay's Daniel Wilson finished fourth in the under-16 division of the Australian Bodyboard Titles at Tweed Heads last week.
Wilson competed in both the under-16 and under-18 divisions at the event, after winning the two age groups at the NSW Titles in Kiama earlier this year.
Hayden Pisani, from Boat Harbour, was knocked out in round two of the under-18 division.
CROSS COUNTRY
TEN Newcastle-Lake Macquarie cross country runners will compete at the Australian Cross Country Championships in Wollongong on Saturday.
The runners qualified for the NSW PSSA and CHS cross country teams at the NSW All Schools Cross Country Championships held at Eastern Creek in late July.
Five of the athletes are making their debut in the NSW team.
Coach Angela Leadbeatter trains eight of the runners, which is understood to be the most number of athletes ever selected in the NSW team from a Hunter squad.
Her runners include: Kotara South Public School's Tori Mason (U/10), Azarliah Grant (U/10), Blacksmiths Primary School's Emerson Leadbeatter (U/11) and Harry Hall (U/10), St Joseph's Charlestown's Phoebe Doran (U/12), Swansea High School's Ty Leadbeatter (U13), Macquarie College's Archie Martin (U/13) and Hunter Sports High's Hannah Jarvis (U/13).
Luke Young of Toronto High and Cory Everitt of New Lambton Public School also qualified for the NSW team.
