Her visit to the Hunter follows last week's release of the 2019 Australian Infrastructure Audit. The audit highlights the potential of smaller cities and satellite regions like the Hunter to alleviate the pressure on congested capitals and address the urban sprawl.
It suggests governments can get value for money by investing in regional areas, where there is opportunity to support growth at a scale of additional investment significantly less than in capital cities
Infrastructure Australia has identified 136 challenges and 44 opportunities and has called for feedback by October 31. Submissions are also sought by August 31 for the next update of the Infrastructure Priority List.
