Wallsend MP Sonia Hornery said Anthony D'Adam put her Question without Notice about the fence to Minister for Education Sarah Mitchell in the Legislative Council on Thursday.
Ms Horney said Ms Mitchell acknowledged the school was experiencing "ongoing issues" and she would fast-track the fence's construction through the 2019/2020 financial year.
The security fence will replace the current waist-high fence at the school, which was vandalised last November.
"This is a great outcome for the school community," Ms Hornery said.
"Thank you to the parents and P&C members, both past and present, who have continued to lobby hard over this issue. This is a win for them. Parents collected more than 500 signatures on a petition and turned out to a number of events. They have written countless letters and sent dozens of emails."
Ms Hornery said she hoped Ms Mitchell would attend a sod turning ceremony.
