POLICE are investigating a shooting in the Hunter Valley overnight, in what is believed to be a targeted incident.

About 7.30pm Sunday, a 23-year-old man was at a property on Cessnock Road, Neath, when he heard a loud bang.
He walked to the front of the property and noticed the windows of a nearby Holden Commodore had been smashed.
On closer inspection, he noticed more damage on the vehicle, believed to be bullet holes and marks.
Officers from Hunter Valley Police District arrived a short time later and established a crime scene.
Several items were seized for forensic examination.
Hunter Valley detectives have commenced an investigation and their initial inquiries indicate this was a targeted incident.
Police are urging anyone with information or who may have dashcam from the area at the time of the incident to contact Cessnock Police Station on 4991 0199 or to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
