RAISING THE BAR: North Construction & Building has submitted a number of projects for consideration in this year's MBA Excellence in Building Awards.

North Construction & Building is proud of its continued involvement in the Master Builders Association Newcastle Excellence in Building Awards.

This year, the 100% employee-owned commercial builder has submitted the following outstanding projects for consideration:

  • EDSACC Oval Grandstand, Bateau Bay
  • Newcastle Light Rail Depot and Light Rail Stops
  • Regis Aged Care, Elermore Vale
  • San Clemente High School Multi-Purpose Hall, Mayfield
  • St Philip's Christian College, Waratah Kindergarten and Early Learning Project
  • St Philip's Christian College, Cessnock Activate Centre

North has also entered a submission for Commercial Apprentice of the Year, Brady Casey, and also for Safework Excellence in Work Health & Safety Award.

"The MBA Awards are a great opportunity not only to showcase our projects and celebrate our hard work with colleagues, but also to commend partners and competitors alike for their success," Matthew Cook, North Managing Director, said. "This kind of industry-wide recognition of local and regional projects raises the profile of quality players in construction and we're honoured to have been part of these awards through our history."

North is making in-roads in transforming the construction industry by doing business differently.

A genuinely values-based business, combined with a corporate commitment to the personal and professional development of its people, North has created a culture that drives excellence and yet is respectful and committed to strong relationships among all stakeholders.

"We are all about building with trust and that extends to our employees, subcontractors, and clients," Mr Cook said. "For subcontractors, this translates as fair treatment, respect, understanding and paying on time. Most of North's suppliers and subcontractors have worked with us extensively. For clients, trust is being transparent, consistent, and particularly proactive in the discussions around owning our responsibilities. Here, we have repeat business clients that have worked closely with North for more than 15 years. For our staff, trust is approachability, openness, support, and great options in the business for your career direction.

"This translates to a fantastic company culture, stability and low staff turnover. As a result, we were awarded Australian Medium Employer of the Year at the 2018 Australian Training Awards."

Founded in 1987, with offices in Tuggerah and Newcastle, North is one of the most trusted builders in the region.
