Pitch Perfect drew gate one for a $30,000 final at Menangle after winning his heat in 1:51:6 last week. At the same meeting, The Black Prince took out the group 3 Vic Frost Cup for Roots jnr.
"He should get a good run from there and even if he happens to get crossed, he's still going to get a good trip," Roots jnr said of Pitch Perfect.
"I think our heat was the strongest. The sectionals and the overall time showed that, and it was his first look at the track and they normally improve in that second run quite a bit at Menangle. He should be hard to beat."
At Newcastle, Roots jnr believed My Chachingchaching (race five), last-start winner The Big Dig (six) and Private Sector (eight) were strong chances.
