DA approval for Darby Plaza, an eight-storey A-Grade office and retail building in Newcastle

The Development Application for Darby Plaza, a new eight-storey A-Grade office and retail building for the city, was granted approval by City of Newcastle through the week.
The GWH development will be located at the junction of Hunter Street and Darby Street, and managing director Jonathan Craig said it would be a state-of-the-art building.
"GWH are already in detailed discussions with a number of key tenants and [the] announcement brings us one step closer to being onsite and commencing construction this year," Mr Craig said.
Adam Leacy, of Commercial Collective, described Darby Plaza as "a key site for the city which links the foreshore with Hunter Street and Darby Street".
"This isn't a standard commercial development," Mr Leacy said.
"GWH are really delivering on current market expectations. The end-of-trip facilities include surfboard lockers, bike storage, showers and changerooms, a towel service and ride share capabilities."
Bank building set for auction
The St George Bank building at 134 Beaumont Street in Hamilton is set to be auctioned by Raine & Horne Commercial on October 24.
Marketing agents Alan Tonks and Jason Morris expect "intense interest" in the property due to a new five-year lease with a five-year option signed by St George Bank. It has an annual net rent of approximately $54,744 plus GST.

Potential for redevelopment
Plumb Realty Commercial's Warren Plumb said an Adamstown property with a B4 mixed use zoning presents an opportunity for a commercial/residential shop-top development.
The property at 583 Glebe Road features an original three-bedroom cottage on a 372 square metre block with a 14-metre height limit.
"Positioned in the Newcastle City Council's Adamstown Renewal Corridor with high destiny development encouraged, this site has so much potential for future development, land bank or renovate," Mr Plumb said.
It is set for auction on October 19.
