Live It Up Karaoke is a family-owned and operated business that has been running at "the Staysh" since 2003 every Friday and Saturday night from 9pm to 2.30am. The business was established by Brad Dalgliesh, and taken over by sister Alicia in 2007 who has continually hosted each weekend for the last 15 and a half years.
The classic mix of atmosphere, audience, audio and all-time hits has been a magnet for people from all walks of like looking for a safe and inclusive environment to have a sing and a dance.
"Live It Up Karaoke offers 40,000-plus songs with a wide variety of genres including rock, pop, country, heavy metal, musical theatre, punk and R&B," Aliicia said
"It also provides a free app that enables patrons to browse songs on their phone from the comfort of their table. The app is sorted by genres ensuring it is an easy task to find the song you like or try something different."
Three cordless microphones enable singers to move easily around the Station Hotel's five-metre long stage to strut their stuff while words to every song are projected on a four-metre-wide screen so the audience can get involved and sing.
"People from all walks of life love joining in to sing along with their favourite songs and share the dancefloor with a large diverse crowd," Hamilton Station Hotel Licensee Tristan Heels said. "It's always a busy night."
The Hamilton Station Hotel is also a great supporter of live local music and has at least 15 live bands performing on stage every week.
"Gigs run simultaneously with Live It Up Karaoke on Friday and Saturday nights and it often entices band members to come out and sing their favourite classic to a different audience," Tristan said. "It's part of the vibe of the place. We are synonymous with karaoke in Newcastle, and we continually have the biggest audiences."
