Norths have produced sustained success in the Hunter Coast Premier Hockey League and will feature in their 10th straight grand final this weekend. They have missed only one decider since 2002.
Blues coach Dave Willott doesn't know the exact secret to his club's run, but credits the mix of players that have taken the field each year.
"They're very hard to make grand finals and even harder to win," Willott told the Newcastle Herald.
"We've just had a good crew. A good blend of experience and youth during that time. That's really stood us in good stead and showed again this year. So I'm pretty comfortable about where we're heading as well as how we've gone in the past."
Norths will be out to claim their first major crown in three seasons when they meet two-time defending champions and minor premiers Gosford in the 2019 showdown at Newcastle International Hockey Centre on Saturday.
The Blues overcame the Magpies via a penalty shootout a fortnight ago to book a grand final ticket while Gosford then bounced back to beat Wests 5-0 last weekend.
Thoughts of a title hat-trick are even more "satisfying" for Gosford's Lloyd Radcliffe given the tough period the Magpies endured when they first entered the competition.
"I've played with Gosford my whole life and I've seen the progression of this team, from when we were terrible to now," Radcliffe said. "It makes it pretty special."
Gosford, in a fifth consecutive decider, are unsure if injured NSW representative Lain Carr (quad) will play while Norths are expected to remain unchanged. Action starts at 3:30pm.
