Cessnock centre Josh Charles will line up for his second Newcastle Rugby League grand final in as many seasons after declaring himself fit to play. Goannas coach Todd Edwards said Charles, who was battling a pectoral injury, rang him on Friday just 48 hours out from the 2019 decider against Western Suburbs at McDonald Jones Stadium. "He [Charles] is all sweet," Edwards told the Newcastle Herald. "He's right to go. There's no tear. He rang me this arvo and he can't wait. "He's been enormous for us, especially the last month." Charles, who played under Edwards at Lakes last year, was replaced around the hour mark of Sunday's preliminary final win over Central at St John Oval and iced the affected area. Wests coach Matt Lantry said the Rosellas would field an unchanged team from their major semi victory a fortnight ago and would play as listed from number "one through to 17".
