Minor premiers Western Suburbs take on fifth-placed Cessnock in today's Newcastle Rugby League grand final at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Wests have only dropped two games all season, including one to the Goannas, while the Coalfields club snuck into the semis in the last round and have won four straight do-or-die encounters.
The Rosellas have never lost to Cessnock in a first grade decider. There have been seven meetings between the two sides since 1966, including three from 2008.
Wests, who lost the 2017 showdown to Macquarie, last won the major crown in 2014. Cessnock's most recent success was 2003 and they have missed out five times since (2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2014).
Outgoing Rosellas coach Matt Lantry, who has signed a two-year deal with Maitland from 2020, and Goannas mentor Todd Edwards have yet to claim a premiership.
Kick-off is 3pm.
