The Queens Wharf complex has definitely improved over the past year. The giant unfortunate-looking tower has gone, plants have been installed, minor aesthetic changes have been made, the Market Lawn across the road is looking good and now the weather is getting warmer. The only way is up.

It's such a lovely spot by the water and often gets overlooked for the dining options down at Honeysuckle. If the pub and bar-style vibe of the Brewery is not your cup of tea, try heading next door to Six Degrees for breakfast, lunch or dinner, any day of the week.
It's a huge space - there's seating inside, outside, as well as on a lower platform right at the water's edge. Glass doors mean you can still enjoy the view from inside. You can reserve a table for any meal which makes it a popular venue for groups or catch-ups - there's no risk of having to wait or be turned away.
The menus are big and varied - this is an everyman kind of eatery. Breakfast caters for those after a sweet or savoury start to their day. Green Eggs with poachies and an assortment of greenery is a healthy choice, as is the hearty Buddha Bowl with pumpkin, quinoa and all sorts of tasty treats. Add the smoked salmon to really beef it up. The Breakfast Board is almost like the Ploughman's Lunch of the early morning: shaved ham, avocado, pesto, feta, roasted tomatoes and eggs tick all the boxes, you just need some cheddar. The zucchini and feta fritters are more pancake-style than deep fried which is nice, it means less oil and more ingredients. Raspberry and white chocolate pancakes are truly sweet, and very delicious. A berry compote adds some tartness to the big fluffy cakes laden with chunks of white chocolate and sprinkles of honeycomb. Or, there's always the option to create your own from the many extras on the menu.
For those lunching or supping, the selection is even greater. It really depends on what you want your meal to be - entree, main and dessert? Yep. Grazing food to share over a bottle of wine? Check. Something light, something hearty? Done. Pizzas for the group or even a banquet? They've got it all covered. Don't forget to check the daily specials too. A midweek lunch package offers you a meal with a glass of wine.

There are plenty of seafood choices which tie in nicely to the waterside locale. From fresh oysters, to chilli squid, a salmon poke bowl, fish and chips, pan fried barramundi or salmon or, if you wanted to go big, a hot and cold seafood platter for two with pretty much all of the above and more. I could think of far less lovely ways to spend a lazy Sunday lunch.
A midweek lunch however, calls for something a little more hasty. A big (huge) bowl of house-made pasta with prawns and crab meat, spinach and sprinkled with lemon zest and a parmesan crumb is a helping of comfort. Add the kick from some chilli and you'll be warm and toasty all afternoon. The pasta is mouth-filling and has a great chew to it. Similarly, the ragu pasta special has a tomato-based sauce with plenty of meat and red onion. A thicker, richer sauce would really make this a winner.
There are plenty of choices for those after something meaty. The pan fried veal escalopes are delicate, yet satisfying. Three pieces of tender veal are coated in a shiraz jus which works quite nicely. A creamy potato mash and the freshness of capers, lemon and parsley lift the richness and make it a pleasurable experience. If you wanted to take the beef experience a step further and order something from the char grill - a range of steaks come with your choice of Cafe de Paris butter, horseradish creme fraiche, barbecue sauce, red wine jus or a tangy chimichurri.
There are plenty of sweet ways to finish off your meal - check out the bakery cabinet or perhaps order some warm churros with Belgian chocolate dipping sauce.
Six Degrees is a venue for all ages and gets really popular on the weekends. Staff are efficient and the kitchen moves quickly.
The water's edge is the place to be.
