In March, Maitland Mutual Building Society Limited began trading as The Mutual Bank. Board chairman Trevor Robinson said the changes to the trading name and legal name were an important step in laying the foundations for the organisation's future growth.
"Our structure and operations will not change as a result, we are and will continue to be a member-owned financial institution, with our priorities as an organisation resting firmly on delivering exceptional financial products and services for our members," he said.
The change in The Mutual Bank's legal name was unanimously recommended by the board of directors and put to a member vote, the greater part being tendered through postal submissions and attendance at the AGM and a resounding majority in favour of the adoption of the new name.
