JORDAN Mullaney was worried after his form had gone down hill just as the Australasian Tour was about to swing back into action. But a couple of lessons and a great day with the putter at the 25th annual Merewether Greater Bank Pro-am on Tuesday will ensure he heads to Kalgoorlie next week full of confidence. Mullaney drained seven birdies on the way to a six-under 64 for his first pro-am title this year. "I putted really well," the 25-year-old from Campbelltown said. "I hit it well enough into the middle of the greens and holed a lot of long putts. When I made a birdie, I made another. My form had gone down hill a little bit in the past few weeks so today was a bit of a shock. I had a couple of lessons last week with Shane Puckett. I was aiming too far left and he fixed my alignment up. That was my main focus today." Mullaney finished a stroke ahead of defending champion Troy Moses. Pacific Dunes club professional Jamie Hook, Andre Stolz and Brad Doherty were equal third at four under. Mullaney will play the Wyong Pro-am on Wednesday before a few days off ahead of the $137,500 Western Australian PGA. Meanwhile, Jordan Jung (West Australia), Jack Holland (Victoria) and Stephen Lui (New Zealand) each carded a three-under 69 to lead the Jack Newton Junior International at Cypress Lakes after round one. Jacob Dundas (Toronto) is tied for 14th at even par, a stroke ahead of Caleb Bromley (Waratah) Brij Ingrey (Newcastle) and Jake Riley (Toronto) carded two-under 69 to be equal third and two strokes off the pace in the Sub Junior (age 10-14) at Crowne Plaza Hunter Valley. In the girls, Queenslander Cassie Porter fired a course record eight-under par 64 to open a five shot lead. READ MORE: BRIDGES FILLS UP BIG CUPS FOR 59 READ MORE: JUNIOR CLASSIC FIELD UP TO SCRATCH
