Dwyer suffered a hamstring injury at training on Wednesday and won't line up for the Newcastle Blasters at Waratah Oval, but former NSW Country player Goninan will feature for the Lake Mac Attack after a summer away.
The neighbouring rivals go head-to-head in the preliminary rounds of the NSW Country tournament for the second straight season.
Stockton skipper Nick Foster replaces Dwyer.
The T20 Regional Bash continues the following Sunday (October 20) with Newcastle Blasters and Lake Mac Attack travelling to meet hosts and defending champions Central Coasr Rush as well as Hunter Hitmen.
Newcastle selectors will then pick a side to play the Canberra Comets at Manuka on October 24 in a Prime Minister's XI curtain raiser.
Action this weekend starts at 2pm.
