Alexander Campbell has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving over the crash which killed 15-year-old pedestrian Sophia Naismith in June.

He appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Tuesday, asking for a bail condition preventing him from driving be varied to allow him to at least take his wife to medical appointments and potentially to hospital for the delivery of the baby.

A police prosecutor opposed the application on the grounds that Campbell's driving at the time of the crash was allegedly dangerous and reckless.

But Craig Caldicott, for Campbell, said there was no suggestion of alcohol, drugs, inattention or speed being involved.

Magistrate Simon Smart agreed to the bail change, but told Campbell he could only drive for his wife's medical needs.

His case will return to court in January.

After a previous court appearance, Campbell's lawyer described the crash as a "terrible, terrible accident" that had turned the 37-year-old's life upside down.

"He's extremely sorry and remorseful for what has occurred and he's indicated that he's not guilty of the charge and intends to fight it," Mr Caldicott said.

"There's no suggestion of alcohol, there's no suggestion of drugs, there's no suggestion of anything other than there was an accident."

Ms Naismith and a friend were hit by a car while walking along a footpath.

The other girl, also 15, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

At the time, police alleged the driver had lost control of the Lamborghini which had mounted the kerb and crashed into the front doors of a restaurant.
