Frontman Tobey Martin wrote the tracks in an old laundromat in the England village of Slaithwaite initially for a solo record, before deciding the songs had an undeniable Youth Group vibe. Australian Halloween is classic Youth Group, filled with glistening guitars and Martin's warm vocals which name check cricketers Dean Jones and Kim Hughes (Ol Glenferrie) and explore the happiness of middle-age family life (Bat Piss).
Youth Group have aged gracefully and are sounding better for it.
