As of Wednesday the iconic fence, yellow in colour and picket in style, at the city's main cricket venue was in the process of being removed.
It comes ahead of the KISS music concert at No.1 during next month's Supercars event and potential improvements to the facility slated by Newcastle City Council.
No cricket fixtures have been scheduled for the venue during 2019-2020.
This includes deciders, traditionally held at No.1, for the top T20, one-day and two-day competitions.
NDCA haven't allocated grounds for those finals, instead waiting to see what teams make the showdowns and who the most appropriate host would be.
The higher-placed team would probably be rewarded. A similar system is used in Sydney.
Tom Locker Cup (one-day) will provide the first potential use of that theory next month followed by T20 and two-day finals in the new year.
