A MAN has been charged with defrauding a Broadmeadow business almost $40,000 in a year.

The 48-year-old was arrested on Wednesday after he presented to Newcastle police station.
The arrest follows extensive inquiries that began in September when detectives were made aware of several alleged fraudulent transactions at the Lang Road business between September 2018 and September 2019.
Police will allege in court that the man, who worked at the business, fraudulently obtained $38,620.30.
He was charged with steal property as clerk/servant more than $15,000 and dishonestly obtain property by deception.
He received conditional bail and will face court on November 28.
Investigations are ongoing, police said, and anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
