Police arrested a 32-year-old man at Forster after they were called to Goldens Road about 4.10pm on Thursday.
It is alleged a 30-year-old man was at the property when a man known to him arrived. Police allege the pair argued before the visitor allegedly produced a knife and struck the younger man across the chest, rib and arm.
The blows caused serious injuries, police said, before the visitor fled.
The occupant and others attempted to pursue the man.
The 30-year-old was taken to Manning Base Hospital for treatment as Manning Great Lakes police began investigating.
Their inquiries led to them arresting the 32-year-old, who was subsequently charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
He was refused bail to face Forster Local Court on Friday.
