On trial for a trip to Flemington, the Declaration Of War filly ($2.90) battled favourite Extraordinary ($1.75) down the home straight in the class one and maiden plate (2350m) before edging ahead for a half-length win.

Perry was pleased with the fighting victory over the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Redoute's Choice colt, which placed in listed company as a two-year-old.

It was Amazing Peace's second win in her past three starts, all at Newcastle, and her trainer was now looking to the Oaks on November 7.

"It was always the plan, as long as she came through well yesterday, and she did," Perry said of the Oaks target.

"The Snowdens had a bit of an opinion of their horse and he's group raced, so she did a good job and we'll give her a chance.

"If they can stay, that's half the battle, and she proved that yesterday. I think the 2500 sorts a lot out."

Perry and jockey Jeff Penza grabbed an early double when Citrouille scored a commanding win in race two, a 900m maiden plate

The Duporth filly came from the rear of the five-horse field to take over and kick clear over the final 200m and win by 2.5 lengths.

The victory followed a photo-finish second at Newcastle two weeks earlier.

"Her run the other day was really good so she's come back nice," Perry said.

Pandano, with in-form Aaron Bullock aboard, completed a hat-trick for the stable when he ran down the David Atkins-trained Hildalgo in race six, a class two handicap over 1400m.

The Dundeel colt, a $2.40 favourite, hit the line strongly to claim a half-length win over Hildalgo, which looked set to hang on. It was a repeat of the battle between the pair two weeks earlier at Newcastle.

"He's a real trier that horse and he will probably have a go in Sydney now I'd say," Perry said. "Now that the carnival is winding down, there might be a race to suit.

"The second horse goes all right as well. He's no mug so it was a good effort."
