Newcastle Transport operator Keolis Downer has confirmed light rail frequency will be revved up for the Saturday and Sunday of the Newcastle 500.
Trams will run every 7.5 minutes between 7am and midnight on Saturday and 7am and 8pm on Sunday.
The third incarnation of the Supercars round in Newcastle will be the first with light rail operating.
Trams not proceed past the Queens Wharf light rail stop. Passengers will alight and board from the harbour side of the stop only.
Services will cease operating to the Newcastle Beach stop on Wednesday, November 20 and recommence on Tuesday, November 26.
The Newcastle 500, which attracted more than 160,000 fans over three days last year, will be the biggest test for the city's light rail since a huge turnout for a community launch event in February.
Sections of track at Watt Street are again expected to be filled in for the race.
