The 2019 Supercars Australia Newcastle 500 finale is just around the corner and it's set to bring thousands of visitors to the city and region. It's the perfect reason to share all that Novocastrians enjoy about their home.

Now in its third year, the Newcastle 500 has cemented its place as one of the city's most anticipated sporting events.

But it's more than just a race. It's a huge weekend of entertainment for the whole family - on and off the track. So start planning how you're going to make the most of the packed program and not miss a thing.

The Supercar fun starts on Thursday, 21 November, when all 26 Supercar drivers head to Civic Park for a free Super Signing Session.

From 4.30pm, get an autograph from your favourite Supercar champion and see Supercars Trackside being broadcast live on Fox Sports. Plus there will be heaps of entertainment for the kids.

And while you're in the city why not stay and enjoy a bite to eat at one of the many eateries close by? From restaurants and cafes to great pub bistros and delicious ice-cream, you are spoiled for choice in the Newcastle CBD.

Over the whole weekend the Hunter Street Mall is coming alive with family fun with a side of action.

On Saturday, there's the Pushcart Challenge, which will be raising money for local charity Life Education and Newcastle Toy Run. So grab a partner, challenge your mates and have the chance to win "mall money' to spend.

Then on Sunday is the Show-off Ya Motorbike show with trophies and vouchers to be won.

There will be free kids races and workshops, market stalls, live entertainment and more.

The action continues at Civic Park over the weekend with the Superkids Pitstop from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Mingle with Mr Monopoly and play Newcastle's very own version of the game on the over-sized board. You can even purchase your own copy of the Newcastle-themed Monopoly at the pop-up-visitor shop.

Kids can also enjoy the Monster Truck Slide, Adrenalin Rush obstacle course, circus workshops, and a dedicated under-6's zone.

Whether you're at the race and need a break from being trackside, or you're just keen to soak up the festive atmosphere on this exciting weekend, Newcastle has plenty to do, see and enjoy.

The light rail is perfect for jumping on and off at key locations and getting a taste of all that's on offer.

Take in the city's thriving live music scene, stroll along beautiful Bathers Way, soak up the view from the top of Strzelecki Lookout and cool off with a dip in the water at Merewether Ocean Baths.
