With hot, dry conditions combining with strong winds, the number of calls has escalated dramatically.
Last Saturday alone, with wind gusts reaching over 90km/h, crews responded to hundreds of calls.
Many bushfires burned throughout the region. Disappointingly, several were found to be deliberately lit or caused from cigarette butts being thrown from cars.
Fire and Rescue NSW responded to more than 20 calls of trees down on power lines due to the strong winds. Many suburbs lost power for hours.
Firefighters secured buildings at Charlestown and Hamilton which had roofs blown off.
At Toronto, fire crews pulled the framework from a house under construction off a neighbouring property, where it had been blown during a violent wind gust.
Additionally, fire crews from Newcastle and the Hunter were deployed to major bushfires burning throughout the north of the state.
Crews were sent to assist with extinguishing fires near Tenterfield, the Clarence Valley, Tamworth, and at several blazes on the mid-north coast.
In the event of power lines being broken and laying on the ground, it is essential to remain a safe distance away.
