Following last week's launch of the new competition, the Sabres lost three wickets and took 13.1 overs reeling in the home side's 8-67 at Waratah Oval on Wednesday afternoon.
Thea Graham (2-9), Sienna Eve (2-9) and Millie Kohl (2-11) claimed six scalps between them while in reply openers Clare Webber (18) and Abbey Taylor (24) were City's best with the bat.
Waratah's Kate Handley remained unbeaten on 25 from 33 deliveries, adding to her half-century on debut seven days earlier.
Cassandra McLaren (2-14) and Alisha Phoonie (1-10) were Waratah's wicket takers.
In the other second-round encounter at Harker Oval and hosts Wests recorded their first victory of the campaign by accounting for Hamilton-Wickham.
The Rosellas were none down chasing 8-58 with Caroline Reay 36 not out. Natalie Cowen took 2-8 for Wests.
Next week City are at home to Hamwicks at Learmonth Park and Wests travel to meet Waratah.
Semi-finals take place on November 20 before a decider on November 27.
Meanwhile, City trio Kirsten Smith (36 not out), Maddie McGuigan (2-6) and Taylor (2-21) will line-up for Northern District in the Sydney women's premier T20 final against Universities on Sunday following strong last-round performances on the weekend.
