On Friday, a 43-year-old male from Belmont stole a car from Cooks Hill beach car park.
The owner had left the keys in a towel on the beach and the offender found them and stole the car.
On Saturday, police arrested the offender in Belmont with the stolen vehicle.
He was charged with stealing the vehicle and being a disqualified driver until December 12, 2024.
He was bail refused and will appear in Court on the November 11.
This isn't the first instance of its kind this beach season.
Multiple vehicles have been stolen in recent weeks after owners left their keys out of sight and unsecured.
Car owners are reminded to not leave their car key in a towel on the beach, or hidden on their tyre while swimming or surfing.
