The opening event for Between Two Worlds is Saturday from 2pm. It will include a panel discussion between exhibition curator Catherine Croll and artists Guo Jian, Rowena Foong and Peter Gardiner from 2pm at Newcastle Art Gallery. This exhibition includes installation, painting, photography, sculpture and video which examine themes from cultural identity and migration to globalisation and social control. Until February 16.

John Hunter Hospital's Arts for Health program is celebrating 20 years of providing art events that enliven and provide a greater sense of wellbeing to patients and visitors of the hospital. The commemorative exhibition Art of Healing is on display throughout Level 2 at the hospital until January 31, with a percentage of sales donated back to the running of this invaluable program.

Julia Jay's Horoscope Project is on now at Between The Lines (197 Maitland Road, Tighes Hill). Her detailed illustrations take inspiration from the heavens, the planets and the signs of the horoscopes to form 12 artworks, 1 for each month of the year. From these artworks, Jay has printed a 2020 calendar which is available for purchase during her exhibition.

Home Grown by Ashlee Jedrzejrak is currently showing at Hunter Wetlands Centre until November 29. Her brightly coloured abstract and figurative drawings, depict the joyful feelings of the suburban garden and backyard.
