Royes gently portrays the humility of everyday life through ceramic sculptures, mosaics and digital drawings.
His exhibition takes on a philosopher's perspective while still challenging viewers to find their own narratives within each artwork.
FESTIVE GROUP
On now until December 21 at Art Systems Wickham is the annual You'll Fest Christmas exhibition. You'll Fest has been running for 10 years, a take on the word Yule(tide) Fest, it's an opportunity for Colin Lawson (gallery director) to bring together a celebratory group exhibition. All types of artwork are on show, with affordable and collectable art represented. Visit Friday to Sunday between 11am and 4pm.
CIVILISED GATHERING
At The All Story today, Cameron Emerson-Elliot's exhibition Everything is Invented will include a free live music performance by the artist from 3.30pm. His graceful ink and watercolour illustrations present investigative narratives of civilisation and the history of humankind. Exhibition ends December 13. At 7 Robert Street, Wickham.
WORKS FOR SALE
Two Newcastle artists are holding studio sales today. Peter Lankas, at Hudson Street Hum from 10am and 1pm, is clearing the draws after moving into a new studio. After 20 years, Lankas is letting go of unseen works on paper, graphite drawings, demonstration sketches and more. While at Newcastle Art Space, Dan Nelson is celebrating her move into an upstairs studio with a sale of new and recent paintings and drawings.

HOT LINE-UP AT MRAG
The Summer Season at Maitland Regional Art Gallery is officially opening with artist and curator talks on Saturday from 3pm to 5pm. Those taking part include Newcastle-based artists Dale Forward, Edward Milan, Nicola Hensel and John Turier. Between noon and 4pm, meet the maker, Beep Bicycle Bells in the Gallery Shop.
