In that time they have breathed new life into the residence at 77 Queens Road and hope to have "left our mark" on it.
Built circa 1908, The Grange at 77 Queens Road epitomises Federation elegance and is set on a private and elevated block around 1200 square metres in size with beautiful landscaped gardens.
It was a house the couple had admired while renovating their previous property and when it came to market they had secured it within two weeks.
When they stepped inside for the first time Ms Ebert said they were struck by "the grandeur" and "the scale of it".
They have thoughtfully updated the home, creating the ultimate family and entertaining residence in one.
"We've done a lot to modernise but hopefully respect the features of the home and just freshen it up," Ms Ebert said.
It has 11-foot ornate ceilings, leadlight windows, formal and informal living, a wraparound verandah and an industrial-style downstairs rumpus and entertaining space that extends to the pool area.
It is being marketed by Tammy Hawkins, of McGrath Newcastle City, and is open for inspection from 11.30am until midday on Saturday. A price guide is yet to be set.
