Poor air quality last week threatened to throw a cloud over the event but it was able to go ahead around the Newcastle foreshore in perfect conditions.
Event organiser Paul Humphreys described it as the most fun of all the so-called "fun runs" held around the region with participants donning Santa suits and white beards.
"It's a novelty fun run and everyone has a good time," Mr Humphreys said.
Around 500 people of all ages and abilities took part in the five and 10-kilometre courses which start and finish at The Station.
The event is a fundraiser for Variety - the Children's Charity (NSW & ACT).
