Callaghan, the Hunter's leading reinsman last season, drove Pegasus Elegance to victory for Blake Fitzpatrick on Wednesday night.
The 18-year-old returns to headquarters for one booking on Saturday night after answering the call for a five-point concession driver to partner the Shane and Lauren Tritton-trained Ideal Pleasure in the mares race.
The five-year-old has won 10 of 29 races and was third first-up last start. She has the second widest barrier in race eight because of her high rating, but Callaghan was not concerned.
"She goes really good this mare and I was lucky enough to get the drive for Shane and Lauren," Callaghan said.
"Hopefully she can run well. I don't think the gate should worry her. Three starts ago she sat outside the leader and won, and they went 1:50:5, so she's got plenty of ability."
Callaghan has won a Rising Stars heat at Menangle on a Sunday Breeders Challenge finals day but he is yet to salute on a Saturday night.
He hopes a win on Ideal Pleasure and a coming change to his licence will open up more opportunities.
"I get my full metropolitan licence next week, which means I can drive in any race down there, so hopefully I'll get some more drives," he said.
Callaghan kicked off Friday night's program at Newcastle Paceway with a win behind Laceys Lad for his father, Mark.
