Sea Dragons skipper Matt Gawthrop reckons the former Big Bash League player and Sydney first grade captain "made it look easy".
Hamilton-Wickham were just glad when Harriott's almost five-hour knock was finally over at Passmore Oval on Saturday.
Harriott, also known by his nickname Buddy, joined Newcastle District Cricket Association's double century club as Uni posted 6-377 against the joint competition leaders.
The 27-year-old Tamworth product scored a career-high 206 - compiled from 245 balls, across 289 minutes and including 22 fours.
"It was one of those days," Harriott said. "The wicket was flat and the ball was coming onto the bat nicely. It's a milestone I certainly wanted to reach before I retired so it's good to get there."
He's made eight tons for Northern Districts, featuring four in 2016-17, and also has a second XI hundred to his name for ACT but Harriott's previous best was an unbeaten 169 made against Wallsend at University Oval last season.
This latest effort now puts Harriott on the NDCA honour board alongside the likes of former Test trio Jim DeCourcy, Gary Gilmour and Rick McCosker as state players David Johnston, Greg Geise and Steve Storey plus NSW Country representatives Greg Arms, Mark Curry, Glen Grimmond, Rhys Soper, Steve Mace, Joseph Price, Ben Woolmer, Mark Littlewood, Simon Moore and Aaron Wivell.
Johnston's two appearances on the 200 list are the only others for Uni - 230 not out in 1982-83 and 213 in 1990-91.
In the current fixture, Harriott and Joe Hart (31) combined for a first-wicket stand of 127 on day one while he and Gawthrop (33) took the total to 208. Following a partnership of 76 with Varunesh Sharma (53), Harriott was dismissed at 4-326.
The Sea Dragons sit equal fifth on the ladder, five points shy of the top four.
"Hopefully we have enough [runs], but you never know," Harriott said.
"It would be good to get the win going into Christmas, especially after the Waratah game last week."
Elsewhere on Saturday and Waratah-Mayfield collapsed late against Belmont and trail by 138 with four wickets in hand at Waratah Oval.
The hosts finished 6-36 at stumps, losing 3-0 and eventually 5-13 after being 1-23, with Belmont duo Dan Bailey (4-23) and Jace Lawson (2-12) doing the damage. Jacob Short (47) had top scored in Belmont's total of 174 while Ben Sullivan (5-26) was the pick of Waratah's bowlers.
Over at Ron Hill Oval home side Toronto are 1-5 in reply to Cardiff-Boolaroo's 248, which included 79 to Nathaniel Duggan and 57 to Brady Conlon while Kookaburras paceman Tim Wilson took four wickets.
And at Learmonth Park visiting Merewether (1-29) need 158 for victory against City, who were dismissed for 186 in the 80th over.
Bryce Garrett (68) was the best for the Sabres while spinners collected a combined six wickets for the Lions courtesy of Tim O'Neill (3-49) and Courtney Moulton (3-46).
