TWO nights, more than 38,000 people and one massive farewell. It was a historic weekend at Pokolbin's Hope Estate as Hunter music fans turned out in droves to say goodbye to retiring icon Elton John on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour.
The visual of hundreds of purple and red over-sized glasses flashing around the winery and the massive release of confetti during Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting) won't be forgotten any time soon.
The performances were John's fourth and fifth at the Hope Estate, having previously played there in 2015 and twice in 2011.
I guess all crowds must look the same as John announced on stage that Saturday's show was his seventh at the venue. He was no doubt counting the 2007 gigs up the road at Tempus Two, now Roche Estate.
