RED HOT Newcastle's first couple of rock'n'roll mayhem Nicholas Connors and Ahlia Williams are throwing a barbecue with a difference to support the NSW Rural Fire Service and WIRES. The Rock'n'roll BBQ Bushfire Fundraiser is scheduled for February 8 at the Lass O'Gowrie Hotel. Expect a "Bunnings style" barbecue and live sets from Connors and Williams and fellow Newcastle acts Bloody Hell, Dank Hank & the Hot Ones, Flight To Dubai and Household Item No. 1.

FRESH Newcastle pop-punks Trophy Eyes have continued to expand their sound on their latest single Figure Eight released this week. Their first release as a four-piece sees Trophy Eyes exploring electronic beats and even saxophone on the anthemic track. "It is the sound of a broken heart, the deafening silence of a couple once in love, and a fleeting dream told from two perspectives - one is of failure and the other of resentment," the band said in a statement.
SEWELL OFFER Healing Hands hit-maker Conrad Sewell has announced all profits from the merchandise sold on his upcoming tour will be donated to Australia Red Cross and Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital in light of the bushfire disaster. That tour includes a February 22 show at the Cambridge Hotel where the 31-year-old pop star will perform songs from his ARIA No.1 debut album Life.
