The Hunter's five representatives helped NSW edge out Queensland to claim a third consecutive surf lifesaving Australian Interstate Championship at Alexandra Headlands on the Sunshine Coast on Friday.

NSW (251 points) finished just six points ahead of traditional rivals Queensland to win the overall score, which took in 92 individual and teams event across open and youth competition.
NSW Country, Western Australia, Victoria and South Australia were also at the one-day carnival.
Fingal Beach's Grace Hewitt was the Hunter's only individual gold medallist, winning the youth female beach sprint.
NSW captain Mitchell Trim said the squad's sand athletes played key roles.
"The beachies were unreal with the sprint relays and the flags... they really carried us through. They were the difference for us," Trim said.
Daniel Collins (Redhead) was third in the open ironman and surf race.
Bella Williams (Cooks Hill) was third in the youth female surf race and fourth on the board.
Nicola Owen (Redhead) was fourth in the youth ironwoman and seventh in the board.
Kye Taylor (Swansea Belmont) was fifth in youth male board race.
